I became 21 in ‘21, it was time to go to the retirement home.

This project served as my bachelor thesis/assignment. As I look back, I still smile at the hours it took me to bring it to life. I spent a week in a retirement home, getting to know everyone, and then built my own mini-installation to showcase the stories of the people I interviewed.

When I turned 21, I was about to graduate from Luca (Graphic Design Studio), and for the first time in my life, I had no idea what layed ahead. To confront this uncertainties, I sought out conversations with people who reflect on the past rather than looking to the future.

I conducted interviews with six individuals and captured their stories through 10 questions. The overall layout and design of the project were influenced by the emotions I experienced during my week-long stay. I took photographs of their collection of old photos, recorded 17 hours of conversations, and documented my own reflections in my diary, which all culminated in the creation of a book titled '21 in 21'.

The project is still on display at the retirement home called 'De Refuge'. I am extremely grateful for all the assistance they provided throughout the process.
